Messages from the Superintendent

June 12, 2025

 Dear Hicksville School Community,

At the June 11 meeting, the Hicksville Public Schools Board of Education appointed several new leaders who will bring fresh perspectives and a strong commitment to student success as they step into key roles this summer.

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Timothy Piciullo has been appointed as our new Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, effective July 14. Dr. Piciullo brings more than 20 years of experience in education, most recently serving as principal of South Ocean Middle School in the Patchogue-Medford School District. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a deep commitment to student-centered learning, instructional innovation, and equity. He has also taught at the collegiate level, bringing a unique, well-rounded perspective to district leadership.

“I am honored to join the Hicksville family,” said Dr. Piciullo. “I look forward to working alongside Hicksville’s talented faculty and staff to enhance learning experiences and advance instructional excellence for all students.”

We also welcome two new elementary school principals to our district:

Mr. Bryan Offermann has been appointed principal of Burns Avenue Elementary School, effective July 1. Mr. Offermann is already a familiar face in Hicksville, having served as the district’s Assistant Director for Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services. His deep understanding of student needs and collaborative leadership style will continue to support a positive learning environment at Burns Avenue.

“As both an educator and a proud father of two, I understand the importance of creating a school environment where every child feels seen, supported, and inspired to grow,” Mr. Offermann said.

Dr. Nicholas Giarrusso will join Fork Lane Elementary School as principal later this summer, following the retirement of Principal Susan Guilano. Dr. Giarrusso comes to us from the Greenburgh Central School District, where he served as Director of Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services. With a strong background in school psychology and inclusive education, Dr. Giarrusso brings a compassionate and student-centered vision to his work.

“Ensuring that every student thrives academically, socially, and emotionally is key to my heart,” said Dr. Giarrusso. “I’m beyond excited to engage in that work with our students, staff, and families.”

Board of Education President Annette Beiner shared her confidence in all three appointments, stating,

“We are excited to welcome Dr. Piciullo, Mr. Offermann, and Dr. Giarrusso to their new roles. Their leadership, dedication, and collaborative spirit will be a valuable asset to our entire school community.”

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Piciullo, Mr. Offermann, and Dr. Giarrusso to Hicksville Public Schools. We look forward to the positive impact they will have in the year ahead.

 Warm regards,

 Theodore Fulton, Ed.D.
